2017: Rug of the year

LINUM’s exclusive hand-tufted rug CITIZEN, has recently won the prestigious price Rug of the Year at the magazine ELLE Decorations yearly gala.

Elle Decoration Swedish Design Awards, Sweden’s most prestigious award show for interior design, was recently arranged. Our hand- tufted rug CITIZEN was awarded as the Rug of the Year. The jury stated ”The organic and at the same time distinctly graphic pattern, as well as its soft structure, makes this a rug to dream about.”.

CITIZEN was launched in conjunction with LINUM’s 50 year anniversary in the autumn of 2016 and is part of the renowned anniversary collection Big & Bold – A Swedish Love Story, which has taken LINUMS’s distinct and sophisticated design to an entirely new level. The rug, a combination of wool and linen, is produced in Sweden at top-notch rug manufacturer Kasthall.

The CITIZEN pattern is powerful and modern with its emphasised bold strokes, and the rug is available in the colours ink blue and dark charcoal grey.

“I feel happy, touched and proud that CITIZEN has been named Rug of the Year. It’ s a sign that we chose the right path when we took it upon ourselves to revitalize the traditional LINUM brand about two years ago. We chose to focus on the Swedish heritage and the high quality of the product in order to build a Swedish interior design concept.”

Karin Ward, Creative Director at LINUM

ELLE Decoration is part of an international network consisting of 25 different branches. The purpose of ELLE Decoration Swedish Design Awards is to reward designers, products and manufacturers in Sweden, as well as spread knowledge about Swedish design around the world through ELLE Decoration’s network. 25 editors in chief gather once a year at the furniture fair in Milano to praise and reward all winners, who belong in the upper echelon in the world of design. ELLE Decoration Swedish Design Awards kicks off the Swedish Designer Week, which takes place in Stockholm, by rewarding the best designers in Sweden over the past year. The prize has been awarded since 2003 (when it was called ELLE Interiörs Designpris).
