LINUM meets

LINUM meets; Steamery pt 2.

Last year the LINUM team met the Swedish textile care company Steamery. Their stylish design, combined with long-term perspectives on consumption, is well in line with LINUM's own sustainability vision. In this article, they share their best tips for taking better care of some of our most beloved materials.
All LINUMS textiles are made of natural raw material and we only use recycled polyester in products that have padding. Our tactile fabrics often have natural benefits such as good resistance and a beautiful drape. In addition, they must be easy to use and care for, and we therefore attach great importance to practicality. When we make a product, we want it to travel through generations and a bedspread that has been loved by someone for decades, to be able to be passed on and loved by the next. From this, we like to take inspiration from what Steamery does best.

Cotton

Cotton is a durable material used in many home textiles, from cushion covers and bedspreads to tablecloths. LINUM's popular collection UNI & PEPPER is made of 100% cotton, as is the velvet collection PAOLO.

• Wash cotton textiles according to the washing instructions, which usually say machine wash 30–60 °C. To preserve colours and fibres use Signature Laundry Detergent and if it is white textiles, we recommend White Laundry Detergent.

• Air drying after washing is best to reduce the risk of shrinkage. Flatten the fabric by hand or gently pull the edges of the placemat or runner to stretch it. If you use a drying cabinet or dryer, we recommend that you choose a low temperature to be as gentle as possible. If it is still the case that something has shrunk a little, you can use the Cirrus 3 Iron Steamer to restore the fabric to its original shape.

Silk

Silk is an elegant, but delicate material that needs gentle care when a fresh up is required.

• Wash the silk by hand or use the machine's gentlest program at a maximum of 30 °C. Use Delicate Laundry Detergent, which is specially formulated for silk and other delicate materials. Avoid fabric softener, as it can damage the fibers.

• We recommend that you air dry the silk, as heat from a drying cabinet can be harmful to the delicate fabric. Once the textiles have dried, we recommend the Cirrus 3 Iron Steamer to gently smooth out creases and restore the fabric's natural luster. It is gentle and leaves no marks.

Velvet

Cotton velvet is a soft and luxurious material that needs proper care to maintain its luster and texture.

• The velvet can advantageously be aired or steamed, as the short pile is sensitive to pressure.

• To gently clean and remove dust and lint from velvet (and other textiles), we recommend the Lint Brush. Because it does not use tape, it leaves no adhesive residue which in many cases can lead to textiles attracting even more dust and lint. Plus, it's reusable, just turn the handle to clean the brush and empty the contents by pressing the lid.

Bonus tip!

Sometimes you just want to spice things up a little at home. A sofa, curtains or bedspread can easily be refreshed with the help of a little fabric spray. Spray directly on the textiles and feel how the scent spreads in the room. Our fabric spray comes in three different scents – Sandalwood, Rose & Musk and Citrus & Cedar.
