Slotte & Borg interprets LINUM; 1.
Tell us about the table setting, why did you choose these products, materials and colours?
We wanted to create a softer table setting where the textiles would be the main focus. To avoid a cluttered look, we chose to work only with neutral tones and to create contrast using different materials. The ribbed cotton in the UNI-placemats is highlighted when combined with the tactile linen in the HEDVIG-tablecloth and the napkins from the same series.
UNI rib is a classic LINUM product that has been sold across europe for many years. You have worked with uni in your photo series, why do you think this product is so popular?
As you say, UNI is a true classic! We both have childhood memories of ribbed placemats in different colours that adorned our kitchen tables. Tablecloths have been trendy for several years, but now placemats are really starting to find their way back onto tables. We also believe table runners will make a comeback!Do you have any trend observations to share with us ahead of spring?
Another trend observation for the spring is that we think we will see more and more homes being repainted in lighter colours. Imagine walls in creamy white tones just like a really delicious Italian vanilla ice cream. It is exactly these kinds of tones that we wanted to include in our table setting. It feels soft and lovely! We also believe that we might start seeing a more relaxed approach to interior design and our homes in general. It feels like we’ve had enough of over-stylization and that people now are more keen on styles that reflect real life. There will be more room for contrasts and there has been a shift regarding what we define as perfect.
